The biggest focus since early 2022 is a startup group of competitive tabletop gamers, Best In Tabletop Network. Their mission is: “Being The Best” at tabletop gaming extends far beyond simply winning. Being the best means being a consummate sportsman, rising above even the most tense situations with frustrating opponents.
They demonstrate these ideals both through their appearance in frequent public tournaments, but also by hosting a yearly gaming marathon for charity, Charityhammer. This event has raised thousands of dollars over the past few years for Child’s Play Charity, which delivers therapeutic games and technology directly to pediatric hospitals to improve patients’ lives through the power of play.
I travelled with the Network team to the 2022 Las Vegas Warhammer 40k Team Tournament, to film and edit what turned into a two part blow-by-blow rundown of the team’s experiences. Spoiler alert: They placed third.
