This was an XML-driven product display that I developed for HP, to show product details for new or important products. Each individual product can be tagged to show up for different retailers, so one online tool can be utilized to show consistent product messaging across the entire audience regardless of frequency of updates.
The main reason for developing this tool was to reduce costs and improve turnaround time for periodic updates. The prior online tool took a developer anywhere from 20-80 hours to update depending on the number of products that changed. A full update of this version reduced developer time needed to around one-quarter of the previous amount, leaving more budget to focus on writing and organizing product information while still reducing overall update cost.
